Based on the proven MDC grasper design the heavy duty dog pole is designed for dealing with known dangerous dogs and is appropriately robust in construction - for example, the handle is made of 32mm diameter high grade aluminium tube, whilst the lanyard has been tested to 350kg (750lb) loading. Once a dog has been secured the lanyard can be held in position by means of a 4-position lock. The lanyard can, if necessary, be instantly released by means of a cable operated spring-loaded latch. Strong plastic sleeving over the lower part protects the animal's teeth if it attempts to bite the pole.
